2201 with Emily was nice so far! We have our second class today.
Even though Emily very clearly reviewed her email policy on the first day, I got an email last night from a student asking where to locate the readings, with no info about what class the student was in. Luckily, I only had to rosters of ~25 students to looks through to find her. I can’t imagine looking through 100+ students across multiple classes. I think she was confused by the difference between BB (Building Bridges) and Bb (Blackboard).
I think my only expectation for the class before going in was that Emily would probably have a very active icebreaker, more like an activity, but instead she had some really interesting questions from Brandon. I guess I was trying to go into the first day completely open. It was interesting to see that she used the full time since it’s a 1 hour and 15 minutes class. She gave them time to start their sample writing, which I liked.
We did have one weird experience, which I mentioned in our meeting. A student tried to get up and leave when we were starting the writing time because he didn’t bring his laptop/other device. He wasn’t willing to write on paper and then have to retype, but Emily very politely explained that class wasn’t dismissed. It was probably 20 minutes early!
